An Imam has been confirmed dead and another on admission at the Yendi Government Hospital after violent clashes erupted between Dagombas and Konkombas at Nakpachie, a farming community in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.
The Yendi Crime Officer, Superintendent Happy Michael Addai who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com indicate that there is an uneasy calm the area with three houses torched but a combined team of armed police and military personnel have been deployed to avert any reoccurrence.
Adam Alhassan, aged 50-years-old and the Chief Imam of the community he revealed was shot and abandoned at the outskirts of the village with his intestines gushing out According to him, the destruction of a farm by a pig belonging to the other side is said to have sparked the latest violence in the community
“A pig belonging to Kokomba man had entered a Dagomba man’s farm and the farmer shot and killed the pig. The pig owner confronted the Dagomba man which resulted in a confrontation and the latter shot at the former in the thigh. He was rushed to the hospital by the police”,
Continuing what he witnessed on reaching the community, he added “When I got to the town, I saw someone lying at the outskirts of the town so I drew the attention of the District Commander that somebody is lying down there let us go and find out. When we got there he was shot in the stomach and all his intestines were gushing out. We got to know he is the Chief Imam of the village. Adam Alhassan about 50-years-old”
